My 28th Birthday: A Wholesome Birthday Celebration Out with Friends

Since I’m hosting Friendsgiving at home a few days after, I wanted my 28th birthday to feel simple and effortless. Instead of planning another gathering at home, I invited all my girlfriends here in Frankfurt to join me at a cute little wine bar for some wine and small bites. This wine bar is the kind of place tucked underground with cozy lighting and thoughtful decor that makes the night feel a little more special.
We spent the evening trying new wines, sharing charcuterie boards, and catching up without any pressure or schedule. Even though it wasn’t in my own space, the experience reminded me of what I love about hosting, which is creating moments that feel warm, personal, and unhurried. I chose one of Canva’s invitation templates for the night and printed them out to hand-deliver or mail to my friends.
I’m a bit old-fashioned when it comes to cards and invitations. There’s something about holding a physical one that feels so personal and intentional. And while I didn’t design this particular template, I love creating custom ones for other special occasions.
Spaces like this always inspire ideas I want to bring into my home: layered lighting, natural textures, a beautiful charcuterie board, and a table set for conversation.
It ended up being quite a wholesome birthday celebration. Here’s to 28 — to good wine, good friends, and finding inspiration in the places that make us want to slow down and stay awhile. 🍷✨
